this, a pretty pertinent appeal
even as technology expands with speed of light pace it's becoming
easier and easier to cut, copy, paste and transfer music to people all
over the world. while napster and its cousins make it possible to 'get
back' at corporate dominance more often than not it's the artist who's
the real loser. this album has been self-funded by alms for shanti
with no money from any record company or sponsor. this is an appeal to
spread the word but not the product at the cost of the band. choose a
song you like, copy it and send it to your friends but please
encourage then to buy the album. if you like the music do tell people
about us. we would love to meet up with you after a gig and discuss
life over a beer or few. peace, love and the very best in your pursuit
of happiness.
welcome the new breed
it's a whole new world. the change is constant, unrelenting, unstoppable.
migrations of cultures with new ideas, perspectives and thoughts traverse the
world without trepidation. we grew up in a place the world had sort of heard of
but we watched everything the world did and loved a lot of it. we listened to
rock'n'roll, watched kubrick and scorsese, read vonnegut and asimov and bradbury
and rand. this while bhimsen joshi was being heard and tagore memorized. we
played rock concerts and collaborated with indian classical musicians. taans and
taals melded with driving grooves and guitar solos and the structures of
traditional 'culture' and modern commercialism were treated with equal
irreverence. there's a new world culture coming. its messengers are the hybrids,
often confused but very focused about seeking a new stage and a new audience.
they carry in their backpacks new ideas, sounds, perspectives and techniques in
music, film, art, theatre and other forms. do keep your senses open to them.
